One Off Robotics · Chattanooga, TN · Full-time · On-site · Salaried
About us
One Off Robotics builds some of the largest robotic metal 3D printing systems in the industry, and we run them as a service. Based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, our team of engineers, designers and builders designs, wires, programs and commissions large-format robotic additive manufacturing work cells, then puts them to work producing real metal parts for customers.
The role
You'll own the electrical side of our robotic metal 3D printing cells, from the first schematic to a powered-up, running system. You'll design it, build it, wire it, troubleshoot it and stand behind it when it ships. This is a hands-on engineering role: you'll spend real time at the drawing board and real time with a meter in your hand.
What you'll do
Design electrical systems for large robotic work cells: power distribution, AC and DC, high-voltage power and low-voltage control circuits
Create and maintain electrical schematics, panel layouts and wiring diagrams
Build and wire electrical control cabinets and field wiring to print, clean and well documented
Integrate robots, motion systems, process equipment, sensors and safety circuits (e-stops, interlocks, safety relays)
Test, troubleshoot and commission systems in our shop and at customer sites
Specify and source components and keep bills of materials accurate
Work side by side with our software and mechanical engineers, and help train technicians
Use AI tools to move faster on documentation, research, troubleshooting and design work
What we're looking for
4+ years of hands-on industrial electrical experience (senior candidates: 8+ years, with experience leading designs end to end)
Solid understanding of AC and DC power, single- and three-phase systems (120/240/480V) and low-voltage DC controls
Fluent reading electrical schematics, and able to create them from scratch
Experience building and wiring control panels
Comfortable with the full range of electrician's tools: meters, megohmmeters, crimpers, strippers, benders and power tools
Working knowledge of the NEC and safe electrical work practices (NFPA 70E)
Self-starter who takes ownership, communicates clearly and works well on a small team
Willing to travel to customer sites for installation and commissioning
Nice to have
Journeyman electrician license for Chattanooga / Hamilton County. Don't have it yet? We'll support you in getting it.
Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience
Electrical CAD experience (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical or similar)
Experience with industrial robots (ABB, KUKA, FANUC), servo drives, VFDs and PLCs
AI proficiency
UL 508A panel building or machine safety experience (risk assessment, safety PLCs, ISO 13849)
Background with welding, laser or other industrial process equipment
